Which epoxy should I use for an outdoor bar top or table?

Yes, you can use it outdoors. For an outdoor bar top, table, countertop, bench or similar surface, use UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy. It is the product we recommend for outdoor coating projects, and many customers have used it outdoors, including on wooden truck beds, with great results.

How to apply it outdoors

Apply it the same way as indoors: brush on a seal coat, then pour a flood coat. The flood coat self-levels to about 1/8" and flows over the edges to coat them seamlessly, so pour enough to account for the roughly 30% that runs off over the sides. The flood coat is the final durable layer.

Keep the temperature above 75°F for a full 3 days so it cures properly. You don't need epoxy on the underside of a table; if you want to seal it, use an oil-based polyurethane there instead.

Protecting it from the sun

The epoxy is made with UV inhibitors and stays clear far longer than other brands, but no resin is exempt from sun damage over time. Once it has cured, spray a coat of UV-rated polyurethane over the flood coat for extra protection. We don't sell one and don't endorse a specific brand; any UV-rated polyurethane should work.

Rivers or voids

If the project has a river or void that needs a pour of 1/4" or more, fill it with UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy first, then flood coat with Bar & Table Top Epoxy.
