Do I need a UV polyurethane topcoat over epoxy outdoors or on a boat?
UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy is formulated with UV inhibitors to stay crystal clear far longer than other resins, and customers report success using it outdoors in indirect sunlight. But no resin is exempt from sun damage over time. So for an outdoor table, including one under a pavilion or other cover, we recommend applying a coat of UV polyurethane over the epoxy after it has fully cured, to further mitigate sun damage. A spray can is the easiest way to apply it. The same goes for a boat table or any other epoxy surface that will sit in constant direct sun.
Keep in mind that extreme temperatures can affect any epoxy. The UltraClear formula minimizes the risk of warping or cracking, but it can't eliminate it.
