Will epoxy hold up outdoors in rain, snow, and extreme heat or cold?

Rain and snow are not the problem. Once cured, UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy is an inert plastic that forms a full moisture barrier, so water sitting on or running off the surface does not damage it. We recommend it for camper serving ledges and for picnic tables and bars that get rain or snow blown in, and customers have coated wooden truck beds with it for years with great results.

Temperature extremes deserve more caution. Extreme heat and cold can affect any epoxy. The UltraClear formula minimizes the risk of warping or cracking, but it does not make the surface immune, so a piece left out through freezing winters and 100°F summers is taking on some risk. Once fully cured, the surface itself tolerates temperatures up to about 135°F.

Sun is the biggest long-term factor. The epoxy is made with UV inhibitors, but no resin is exempt from sun damage over time, so once it has cured, spray a coat of UV-rated polyurethane over it.

Cold also matters while the epoxy is curing. It needs to be kept above 75°F for a full 3 days to cure properly, so plan your pour around that rather than pouring outdoors in cold weather.
