Will epoxy hold up outdoors on a sign, memorial stone, or art piece?

Yes, with realistic expectations. UltraClear Epoxy is formulated with built-in UV inhibitors to resist yellowing and withstand the effects of sun exposure for as long as possible. No epoxy can be made 100% UV proof, only UV resistant, and no epoxy lasts forever outdoors, but these inhibitors greatly extend the clarity and lifespan of the finish. Many customers have used our epoxy outdoors over the years with great results, especially in indirect sunlight.

For the longest life, apply a coat of UV polyurethane over the epoxy after it has fully cured. A spray can is the easiest way to get a smooth, even coat. Used together, the epoxy and the polyurethane give you the strongest possible protection against sun exposure.

Once cured, the epoxy is waterproof, and UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy handles temperatures up to approximately 135°F. Extreme temperatures can affect any type of epoxy, but our formula minimizes the risk of warping or cracking.

If yellowing or fading would show on your piece, such as white or light-colored backgrounds, colored resin, or a photo on a memorial stone, use UltraClear Art & Craft Epoxy, which has the highest UV resistance of our products. Plan to coat the piece flat and level before it is installed or displayed.
