Can I use epoxy on an outdoor concrete bar top or BBQ island?

Yes. Use UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy for outdoor concrete bar tops, BBQ islands and outdoor kitchen counters. The formula is designed to withstand UV exposure, and customers have reported success using it outdoors in indirect sunlight.

No resin is completely immune to sun damage over time, so for any outdoor application apply a coat of UV-rated polyurethane over the epoxy after it has cured. Any UV-rated polyurethane should work, and a spray can is the easiest way to apply it.

Extreme temperatures can affect any epoxy. Our formula minimizes the risk of warping or cracking, but the concrete itself still matters: the epoxy cures rigid, so if the slab cracks later, the crack will very likely transfer through and show in the epoxy.

If your island has vertical faces, such as a waterfall edge, keep in mind that the epoxy is designed to be poured out and allowed to self-level on a flat surface. You can try brushing it onto the vertical sections, but test that on a sample first.
