Can I use epoxy on concrete countertops?

Yes. UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy is the product to use for sealing and protecting concrete countertops, bar tops and table tops, indoors or outdoors. It bonds very well to properly prepared concrete and cures into a hard, non-porous, glass-like surface that holds up to everyday use, spills and moisture. It's commonly used on restaurant, bar and commercial countertops. Apply a seal coat before pouring the flood coat. Concrete is porous, so start with a thin coat of UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy to seal the pores and help prevent trapped air from creating bubbles in the finish. The concrete must be fully cured, dry, clean and free of dust or existing coatings that could interfere with adhesion. Very porous concrete may need more than one seal coat for complete coverage. Use the same epoxy for both the seal coat and flood coat, following the product’s application and recoating instructions. Each flood coat self-levels to about 1/8" thick, helping smooth out minor surface imperfections. It also works for restoring older counters that are pitted and worn, provided the surface is properly cleaned, repaired and sanded first. The clear epoxy gives concrete a wet, glossy look. For a colored or decorative finish, tint it with Pigmently Mica Powder Pigments. Epoxy is only as strong as the surface underneath it. It cures into a rigid coating and won't flex with movement in the concrete, so cracks that develop later may show through the epoxy. For outdoor projects, remember that prolonged direct sunlight can eventually cause yellowing, even with the epoxy’s built-in UV inhibitors. Maintain the recommended curing temperature of at least 75°F for 72 hours, following the product instructions.
