Can epoxy mixed at the wrong ratio or with the wrong liquid be saved?

No. UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy only works at a strict 1:1 ratio by volume, and UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy is 2:1 resin to hardener by volume. Deep Pour kits contain twice as much resin as hardener; mixing it 1:1 out of habit from Bar & Table Top Epoxy is an easy mistake. If either is measured wrong, or the resin is mixed with anything other than its hardener, it will not activate. Do not add more hardener or resin to rescue it; discard the batch and mix a fresh one. We do not give a ratio by weight; measure by volume in a graduated container.

What to do next depends on how the pour feels after 48 hours. If it is wet, soft or gooey like jello, it has to come off completely. Scrape off as much as possible with plastic scrapers and clean the residue with acetone (it works better than denatured alcohol). Remove every trace so it cannot contaminate the new epoxy. If the surface is hard but only slightly tacky, leave it and pour a properly mixed flood coat over it; the new coat cures hard and crystal clear.

The same applies in reverse: if a batch thickened before you could spread it, do not use less hardener. Mixed epoxy has about a 5 minute pot life, so mix seal coat batches of 1 quart or less. Flood coats can be mixed up to 1 gallon since you only pour and let them self-level.
