Can I thin UltraClear epoxy with solvent or change the mix ratio?

No. Do not add solvent to the epoxy, and do not change the resin-to-hardener ratio. The epoxy is designed as a stand-alone product, so thinning a flood coat with solvent to get a thinner coat is not recommended. The products also have entirely different formulas and cannot be adjusted: adding extra hardener to UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy to make it thicker, or any other ratio change, means it will not cure properly. Mix each product only at its own ratio (1:1 by volume for Bar & Table Top and Art & Craft, 2:1 resin to hardener for Deep Pour).

The one thing you can adjust is temperature:

1. Check the room temperature. UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy has a minimum temperature requirement of 75°F, so if you have been pouring it in a cooler room, start there. 2. Before mixing, set the resin container (only the resin) in a bucket of hot tap water for 15 to 30 minutes. This lowers the viscosity so it mixes more easily and flows better. 3. Never warm the hardener, and do not use a heat mat under the piece while it cures. Either one leads to excess heat build-up, and the epoxy will overheat and cure too rapidly or flash-cure in the container.

Warming helps Bar & Table Top Epoxy flow easier, but it is still a product that self-levels to 1/8". If you need epoxy that flows like water for a deeper pour, use UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy instead.
