Can I cast a very thick or large piece with UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy?

Yes, with UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy. It is the product for thick castings: it is poured 1 inch at a time, adding the next layer every 12–24 hours, up to its maximum depth of 6 inches.

For a form deeper than that, such as a 20" x 20" x 12" pyramid capstone, we have advised building the casting in stages on top of fully cured epoxy:

1. Pour in 1-inch layers, adding the next layer every 12–24 hours, until the casting is 6 inches deep. 2. Wait 3 days for a full cure, then sand and clean the cured surface. 3. Continue with 1-inch pours every 12–24 hours until you reach the full depth.

For a project this far outside a normal table or countertop, test on a small scale first to be safe.

To add color, Pigmently mica powder pigments and liquid dyes both work with Deep Pour Epoxy. Use the Deep Pour calculator to work out how much you need.
