How do I repair scratches in a cured epoxy bar or table top?

The most reliable fix is to scuff-sand the surface and pour a new flood coat. The new layer fills in the scratches and cures to the same clear, glass-like finish on its own, with no buffing.

1. Sand the cured epoxy with 220-320 grit sandpaper. For deep scratches or heat damage, start with whatever coarser grit you need to get the surface smooth, then finish with 220-320. 2. Wipe off all sanding dust with a clean, lint-free rag and denatured alcohol or acetone. Do not use paint thinner or mineral spirits. Keep wiping until no dust is left and let it dry. 3. Mix and pour a new flood coat of UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy. The haze from sanding disappears as the new coat fills the scratches.

You do not need a new seal coat, because the surface is already covered in cured epoxy. Plan on the same amount of epoxy you used for the original flood coat. Use Bar & Table Top Epoxy for the repair coat even if the surface is Deep Pour Epoxy.

For a small area you can spot-fix instead: mix a very small batch and brush it over the sanded spot with an artist's brush, dipping from the center of the container so you only apply blended epoxy. There is no guarantee the spot will be seamless; a full re-coat is the sure way to a uniform finish.
