How thick can Art & Craft epoxy be poured or cast in one layer?
UltraClear Art & Craft Epoxy is poured in 1/8" or 1/4" layers. A single pour can be up to 1/4" thick, so a 1/4"-deep hole, mold or switch plate cover can be filled in one pour.
To go deeper, build it up. Once a layer has set for 4-6 hours, pour the next 1/8"-1/4" layer on top. For 1/2" total, for example, pour two 1/4" layers 4-6 hours apart.
For a 1" pour, use UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy instead. Deep Pour is the product for anything 1/4" or deeper that you want to pour at once.
Two things to watch when casting. First, don't de-mold early: Art & Craft Epoxy is dry to the touch in about 12 hours, but it takes a full 72 hours to cure, so leave cast pieces in the mold for the full 3 days. Second, don't use a thin first pour as glue to hold wood or other pieces in place. Mechanically fasten the piece to your working surface first, then pour as directed.
