Which is harder, Art & Craft Epoxy or Bar & Table Top Epoxy?

UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy is the harder of the two. It has the highest Shore D hardness of any of our products, 98 Shore D, and it's our most scratch-resistant formula. It has a 5-minute pot life, a 20-minute working time, and a higher viscosity than Art & Craft Epoxy.

UltraClear Art & Craft Epoxy doesn't carry a Shore D rating because it's formulated for more than just coating surfaces, but it's a commercial-grade product made to the same US standards, and it still cures extremely hard and scratch resistant; it has been used to coat white marble countertops for years with excellent long-term results. It has a 30-40 minute working time, pours 1/8" or 1/4" in a single layer, and contains the highest level of UV inhibitors of any of our products, so clear layers over white backgrounds won't show ambering.

A few practical notes: both mix 1:1. Both can be poured over the edges of a piece; the drips harden underneath and are sanded off after 3 days. Warming either resin in hot water to thin it shortens the pot life and working time.

For art pieces that see heavy use, such as trays, Art & Craft Epoxy gives you the working time you need while still providing durability and protection. For the hardest possible finish, use Bar & Table Top Epoxy, or top coat cured Art & Craft Epoxy with it.
