Can I apply UltraClear Epoxy over an existing or another brand's epoxy?

Yes. UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy can be poured over any other epoxy coating as long as it is fully cured, and many customers have used it over other brands without issues. You don't need to strip the old epoxy off. It just needs sanding and cleaning so the new coat bonds.

1. Let the existing epoxy cure completely. For another brand's product that is usually about 3 days, but follow that manufacturer's recommendations. 2. Scuff-sand the surface with 220 to 320 grit sandpaper. Nothing coarser is needed. 3. Wipe off all the sanding dust with a clean, lint-free rag and denatured alcohol or acetone. Don't use a tack cloth; the oils in it will affect the epoxy. 4. Once the surface is completely clean and dry, pour a flood coat of Bar & Table Top Epoxy directly over it.

The new coat fills in the sanding scratches and cures to a clear, glass-like finish as long as you follow the mixing instructions. That includes another brand's cured deep pour, a soft art resin, a seal coat of another brand, or an old epoxy bar top.

If another brand's epoxy is sticky or never hardened, pouring over it is not the fix. Scrape off as much uncured material as you can with a plastic scraper; acetone or denatured alcohol helps and evaporates to leave a clean, dry surface. Only hardened areas can be scuffed and coated.
