Is UltraClear epoxy FDA approved or food safe once it cures?

UltraClear epoxy is food safe for the way countertops, bar tops and tables are actually used, but it is not FDA approved, and no consumer epoxy resin is.

All UltraClear epoxies (Bar & Table Top, Deep Pour and Art & Craft) are 100% VOC-free and cure into an inert, non-porous plastic. Once cured, incidental food contact (setting food on the surface, rolling out dough on a countertop, serving from a tray) is not an issue. Contractors have used UltraClear Epoxy in commercial restaurant and bar installations across the United States for over a decade. Bar & Table Top Epoxy needs no separate topcoat; Deep Pour Epoxy on a table or bar top still gets a Bar & Table Top flood coat.

Tabletop epoxy systems are not issued direct FDA approvals or certifications for cutting or food preparation; no consumer-grade epoxy resin system has FDA certification, and this is standard across all epoxy finishes. So do not cut or prepare food directly on the epoxy. A regular cutting board protects both the food and the finish.

After a full cure the epoxy handles up to about 135°F, so use pot holders or a trivet for anything off the stove or out of the oven.

If a health inspector asks for documentation, the Safety Data Sheets for all UltraClear epoxy products are at https://ultraclear.helpscoutdocs.com/article/18-epoxy-msds. Bar & Table Top Epoxy cures to a Shore D hardness of 98, is dry to the touch in 12 hours and ready for use after 72 hours.
