Which epoxy has the longest working time for marbling or color effects?
Use UltraClear Art & Craft Epoxy. It has a 30–40 minute working time, compared with the 5-minute pot life and 20-minute working time of UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy, which isn't enough to blend several colors into a marble effect. Art & Craft Epoxy can be poured in either 1/8" or 1/4" layers, works in silicone molds, has the highest level of UV inhibitors of any of our products, and stays clear over white backgrounds.
Art & Craft Epoxy doesn't carry a Shore D rating because it's formulated for a wider range of applications than coating surfaces, but it's a commercial-grade product made to the same US-based standards as our other epoxies, and it cures extremely hard. Customers have used it to coat white marble countertops with excellent long-term results. Bar & Table Top Epoxy remains our strongest and most scratch-resistant formula (Shore D 98) for high-traffic surfaces.
If you want the marble effect and the hardest wear surface, do the color work with Art & Craft Epoxy, let it cure for 3 days, scuff-sand and clean it, then pour a Bar & Table Top flood coat over it.
Art & Craft Epoxy needs a room temperature of 75–80°F, and a warmer room will shorten the working time. All of our epoxies cure in 3 days.
