How do I fix wood fibers, bubbles or debris stuck in cured epoxy?

If you spot fibers, dust or debris while the epoxy is still wet or tacky, remove them then. Once the epoxy has hardened around them, they have to be sanded out.

1. Sand the spot down. You can start with any grit (a coarse paper is fine for bubbles or raised spots), but work back up and finish with 220–320 grit. 2. Wipe off all the sanding dust with a clean cloth and acetone or denatured alcohol. 3. Restore the finish one of two ways.

Spot-fix: mix a very small batch of UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy and brush it over the sanded area like a seal coat, then use a heat gun to smooth out the brush strokes. Dip the brush into the center of the mixing container so you pick up fully blended epoxy, not unmixed material from the sides. Some customers get great results this way, but it won't be seamless: any spot fix can leave a visible edge where the new epoxy meets the old, and there's no guarantee the spot will be perfectly smooth.

Re-pour: for a seamless finish, sand-scuff the entire surface with 220–320 grit, clean it thoroughly, and pour a complete new flood coat. The new layer fills in the sanding scratches and cures to the same glass-like finish. If you re-coat within 4 to 10 hours of the previous pour, no scuffing is needed; past 10 hours, scuff and clean first.
