Can I clean and reuse epoxy mixing containers, brushes, and stir sticks?

Mixing containers are one-time use. They can't be cleaned and reused, so dispose of them after you mix in them and use a new container for every batch. If your project takes four separate gallon batches, plan on four containers. Brushes are one-time use as well; for the seal coat, simple bristle paint brushes like the ones on our tools and supplies page work well.

Mixing tools are a different story. Stir sticks and the mixing drill bit can be reused from batch to batch. Clean them with acetone or denatured alcohol, or just let the epoxy dry on them and peel the thin cured layer off.

For spills and general cleanup of uncured epoxy, use acetone or denatured alcohol. To keep epoxy off your hands, wear gloves while you work; for cleaning up what gets through, see our article "How to remove epoxy from surfaces or hands".
