How soon after pouring can I sand Bar & Table Top Epoxy?

UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy is dry hard enough to sand 12 hours after it is poured. That applies whether you are scuffing for a recoat, leveling a high spot, sanding out a bubble that opened up, or sanding a crack or knot-hole fill flush before staining. If you are CNC-ing other colors into a cured Bar & Table Top pour, the same 12-hour mark applies. You don't have to wait for the full 72-hour cure.

Use 220 to 320 grit sandpaper, then wipe off the sanding dust with a clean, lint-free rag and denatured alcohol or acetone. Do not use paint thinner or mineral spirits.

Don't worry about the sanding scratches, and don't plan on polishing. The epoxy cures to a high-gloss, glass-like finish on its own, and a fresh flood coat poured over the sanded surface fills the scratches and cures crystal clear again as long as it is mixed correctly. If sanding exposes bare wood anywhere, seal coat those spots before the flood coat so they don't release bubbles into it.

When building up 1/8-inch layers, pour the next layer within 4 to 10 hours and no sanding is needed; the layers bond as one. Past 10 hours, scuff and clean as above.

A single bad spot can be sanded and brushed over on its own, but a spot repair does not always come out as seamless as scuffing the whole top and pouring a new flood coat.
