Can I set hot coffee mugs or plates on a cured epoxy table?

Yes, for everyday items. Once fully cured, UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy handles heat up to about 135°F, so normal day-to-day use won't affect it, even in high-traffic bars and restaurants. Hot drinks and plates served at the table are normal use: a hot coffee cup or mug will not leave rings, marks, or cloudy spots. It's a commercial-grade product designed for high-traffic surfaces such as kitchen countertops and restaurant tables.

We still recommend coasters or placemats under very hot cups, especially in the early stages of curing.

The exception is anything coming straight off the stove or out of the oven, such as pans, skillets, and pots. That level of heat is beyond what any consumer tabletop epoxy can take, so set those on a pot holder, trivet, or silicone mat rather than on the epoxy.

Timing matters. The 135°F figure applies to 100% cured epoxy, and Bar & Table Top Epoxy is only ready for light use after about 72 hours, so be especially careful with hot items, and use coasters, while the epoxy is still in the early stages of curing.

For coating ceramic coasters and tiles, Bar & Table Top Epoxy is the product we recommend, and the same heat rules apply to them. If you're coating over a polycrylic-sealed surface that currently marks from warm or cold items, the cured epoxy will hold up far better to temperature changes, but it still needs a trivet under hot cookware.
