How does the flood coat self-level, and can I go back over missed spots?

UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy is designed to flow out on its own. Pour the flood coat side to side in a zig-zag motion, working from one end of the surface to the other, and it will self-level to 1/8" thick as long as the piece is sitting level. You don't need to spread it or trowel it. Spreading the epoxy around after pouring is one of the main causes of ripples, and the flood coat can't be spread around or thinned out anyway; it always ends up 1/8" thick. Let it flow naturally and it cures to a smooth, glass-like finish.

You are not limited to a single pour. For the flood coat, mix up to 1 gallon total at a time (1/2 gallon resin plus 1/2 gallon hardener). After you pour the first batch, you have about 20 minutes to mix a second batch and pour it to fill in any areas you missed and continue down the length of the surface. Work in sections until everything is covered.

Keep the room above 75°F for the full 3-day cure so the epoxy can level and cure properly. One thing to plan for: a single 1/8" coat will not hide a substrate that has too many imperfections or is significantly warped. Those surfaces need an additional coat to come out flat.
