My epoxy arrived yellow — is it defective and can I return it?

An amber or yellow tint in the bottle is normal and not a defect. The hardener in UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy always has a slight amber hue because of the additives that give the cured epoxy its 98 Shore D hardness and its resistance to yellowing over time. The resin and hardener have different formulas, so they won't look identical side by side, and the tint is more visible in smaller bottles than in larger ones. Measured and mixed correctly, the epoxy still cures to a clear, glass-like finish.

The one case where this slight amber tone can be noticeable is a clear coat over a white surface, such as white paint or a white canvas. For crystal-clear results over white backgrounds, use UltraClear Art & Craft Epoxy instead. Over wood, concrete, laminate, formica, black granite, or other colored surfaces, it's unnoticeable.

Because the color is normal, we can't send out a free replacement for it; a replacement would look exactly the same.
